Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a Western Digital HDD (different than the one in my previous post) and there is a clearly visible burnt-through spot on the L6278 1.2E chip, which, as far as I know, is the motor driver. I think this damaged was caused due to a short on the cable coming from the power supply.
My questions are:
Will a L6278 1.2 chip work fine if i replace the L6278 1.2E with it?
And generally, what parameters should I look for if I want to replace the whole PCB on a Western Digital Drive?
Thank you in advance!
