Can DLI's Pro Hard Hrive Copier save data from bad firmware?

Does anyone have any experience with this piece of equipment? Is it capable of copying data from a Maxtor drive with corrupt firmware?

Well worth the money if it can, less $$$ than 99.99% of data recovery companies charge for their services!
