I am curious why so many Western Digital WD3200KS failed?
The symptoms as follows:
Spins up and not calibrated, continue with knocking the limiter then spins down and spind up again, the process continues.
Anyone have any idea why or have experience with this drive?
Thank you.

Hi Crudeoyl,
Malfunctions of those type could be caused usually by two things:
Defect of SA (some modules)
Defect of head stack (preamp/head)
Of course could be and other things.
Does the knocking continue and after 1/2 min?

few seconds it will knock the limitter, kernel mode does not load ROM or modules. You might be right the SA is damaged. HEAD or preamp not sure.
