Hi Rameez,

Thanks for the polite reply.

I am just trying to recover pictures and the drive freezes up 1/4 to 1/2 way through the recovery process. I thought maybe all of those defects might have something to do with it.

The only thing I want back is pictures.

Thanks again.

P-list defects are added through drive manufacture, and it is normal to have any records there. Also the translator is not dynamic. So imho you are in a wrong way.
Did You check the condition of the media?

In data extractor it sees the my documents folder but there is nothing in the folder. Although all other data in other folders appears to be there.

I am a relatively new user to the pc4k suite and as others have mentioned I find it very hard to use and also find while their tech support seems to call back quickly they have little patience, and an arrogance.

Thought raw recovery might work better, but it still hangs up 1/4 to 1/2 way though.

Hi there..

AFAIK, I didn't have any trouble using ACElab support.. they give good and great support to all of their customer... even you are a beginner user..

so you have to make sure you buy it from original ACELAB. :)

my suggestion. try to clone the drive first. and then using DE to extract the data.. but please make sure your harddisk is in good condition.

regards
Tony

Hi, and thanks for the advice.

I bought it from the company in Canada. I saw a post where someone said to use copyr, but it kept giving me an error about the motherboard not being capable or something to that affect.

I appreciate everyone who has replied. There are lots of posts about people not wanting to help others, but I don't seem to find that to be true in my case. Everyone has been great.

I have had some trouble with copyr in some machines, but rameez is right, mediatools is a great tool. You should try this

Hi,

Thanks again for the advice. I have media tools but even with retry set to 0 (from 32) it still comes up after 10 tries with drive is severely broken call data recovery company LOL. I have tried reverse cloning on there but get the same error with most all drives. Or it says severe corruption no valid file system found etc.

Does anyone else get that message?

What is the way around getting this all the time?

Thanks
