Samsung SP0411N spinning problem

Few days ago, the 40-pin female connector of my Samsung SP0411N hard disk was detached accidently from the PCB.So, I resoldered it and it was working fine.

Yesterday, it happened again and this time the whole brown connector including power connector and master-slave connector has broken down.
But somehow, I resoldered all the points with a fine SMD soldering iron.
But this time, a new problem has arised. The drive is spinning when we turn on the computer but stops spinning after sometime and makes some cracky noise before it stops spinning. And this state goes on continously each time we power on the machine.

If I want to recover the data from it, do I have to replace the PCB with the same model number? Or else, what are the other methods to recover the data? I am going to buy a new 80GB hard disk, can I transfer the data from the old to the new one?

You need same Hard disk PCB to recover your data. and does drives stops after knocking.

and what are the chances of data recovery after putting a new pcb of the same model number?

If you manage to get a compatible PCB then the failure is eliminated and hard disk should work fine, at least long enough to get off your data. You should be able to get a hard disk with a matching PCB on ebay.

Best option is to clone disk with mediatools.

Hi,

I have some doubts regarding the PCB replacement.
In this family it is very hard to find compatible PCB. If U get a drive with the same model number U will have to change the flash ROM ic on the good board to the one on the bad board, at least it is very probable.

We have a large stock of donor drives and sometimes it takes the second or third one we find to be a match. Only when a compatible PCB cannot be found we solder ROM across, though finding a good PCB is much easier
