I have the this hdd and the a chip on the pcb has a dent in it. I assume this is the reason why the hdd doesn't work anymore. I want to know if it will work if i replace the pcb with a pcb from a 20GB Seagate Barracuda.

My model is ST340016A [what does the 16A stand for ?], the chip with the dent is SH6950 D. The dent is in the middle of the chip and is very small..~0.3mm in diameter.

I went to a service and they charge $50 for data recovery [damaged pcb] but this far to much for me.

Any ideas are welcome.
