Secondary Master Busy, when using recovery tools

December 20th, 2006, 10:54

Hello Guys,

When ever I try to use tools such as PCHDD, WD_Checl (WD-SA) or
HDD Repair 1.1, I always get a Busy signal from the Secondary Master.
Doesn't matter what for a drive, System or OS I am using.
Tried this under Win 98Se, Win XP, Free Dos,
this is happening with WD drives. Also tried them In Safe mode, but this didn't make a difference.

Note: I tried this with both, defective and good drives.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

I think problem with your ide cable or may be your motherboard's secondary ide port is bad . Check it

Thanks for your reply rameez. :D

I tried this on 2 different systems with different Motherboards and cables.
The port seams to function for normal operations.
I can connect a drive to the secondary master and work with it in windows or dos without a problem.
I can also use tools like MHDD and Victory without a problem.
But when I try to use tool with some SA function, then the drives are showing the Busy register. This only happens with non comercial tools. First I thought It was a bad tool, but now I tried several tools and they all show the secondary as busy.

Even in victoria the same thing happens . Try connecting the hdd in working mode when victoria is on connect the hdd . the state registor will goto to DRDY and DSC and error registor will goto AMNF that means the hdd is detect . if this doesnot happen then problem with the hardware .
