Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Drive was originally recognized as it's alias Ares. I corrected the FW issue and the drive is now recognized by its correct model of 2F040J0. The directories and files are now available. The problem is that some, not all, seem to be corrupt. Some of the directories and files are fine. While others are inaccessible and are presented such as this ">╓≤∞·à+ε.j½ª". Any thoughts of what I might have done wrong, if anything, are much appreciated. I'm not sure of the exact history of the drive. I'm thinking perhaps some recovery methods might have been used to corrupt the data. Thanks for any thoughts any of you might care to share.

Yes, regen translator.
Failing that, use Data Extractor "Create Virtual Translator" feature.
Assuming you have DE, of course

Pepe, Rameez & Pcimage - Thanks for the suggestions. It worked! It took some time but I was eventually able to access the data using DE and creating a virtual translator. I had to dig pretty deep but the data is all there. Again, thanks for all your suggestions! Much appreciated.
