I have a problem with a maxtor 6E020l0 this is recognized like 6E040L1.
The firmware test is Ok. Defect list is clear not data.
When seeing the modules in format hex I have noticed that everything are modified with these data 6e040L1 but the serial is recognized.
When initiating pc3000 and checking structure of firmware this good but when placing information does not leave the model.
I suspect that they can be the ROM with overl but they estan well.
Please help me,
Thanks

Maybe you "fixed" module 1F - DISK or the drive is in alternative SA.
What's the firmware version it shows?

Drive in alt-SA, this means - main SA is bad
You have to fix main SA

1. set jumper safe mode

I dont think this is a problem with the modules bcz the size has changed 6e020l0 is 20gb how can this drive show 40 gb rewrite the drive id module to fix this issue if this doesnot work then rewrite the correct ROM that will fix the problem alright but be carefull if u rewrite the wrong module then kill r drive .

Actual capacity is storing in module 1F
Zone tables for this kind of drives(N40P) are storing in overlays, but select with module 1F as well.
