Quantum and Safe Mode

January 6th, 2007, 18:06

Can anybody tell me (or send reply on e-mail) how to set jumpers on Quantum Fireball Plus AS and Maxtor 540x-4k for safe mode?

If Quantum drive has a SA problem, then drive switches to safe mode automatically
But after that you need to load correct loader into the drive and this is a problem, because PC3000 doesn't have correct loaders for Quantum drives :)

Good luck and have fun with these crapy drives
BTW often problem on these drives - preamp degradation

The problem is that disk is recognized like 2 GB drive instead 20 GB. So can you tell me is this preamp degradation, like you said, or something with the heads is wrong? Or maybe it is PCB related? Any advice is wellcome.
