Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi All,
I've been looking for a generic diagnostic tool that is simple to test a hard disk. The diagnostic program can boot from a floppy disk or ideally boot from compact flash.
Just want "something" I connect a hard disk to, leave it running a destructive test for 24hrs and provide a report either good or throw it in the rush bin.
Had a quick play but from the list of MHDD commands I can't see a drive integrity check option...or am I missing something?
Can MHDD be setup to do this, self boot and run a diagnostic automatically?

Hello robertg,
You can run a scan verify for integrity check. read the Manual for MHDD.

And the Faq

You can run a batch to perform a automatic diagnostic.
