quick pc3000 question

When using pc3000 to fix the firmware bug in maxtor hds, does it wipe the data on the HD?

I have a Maxtor diamondmax 8 thats being read as its family name (N40P).

That is most probably firmware problems.
You can fix it without wiping the data.

yes u can easily fix it but u need matching firmware of the same model and this drive many problem with firmware compatiblity so becareful .
