Selfscan problem

I did a selfscan on Maxtor 2b020h1 dsp drive it took about 8 hours i connected it to a external power supply with LED connected for monitoring after 8 hours the led switched off then i connected the drive to victoria for scanning its model changed to 2b010h1 and capacity changed from 20gb to 10gb and the surface was full of bad sectors what should i do .

Clear defect tables, and start again.

Can selfscan fix damaged overlays ?
