Hi Guys
The PSU on my system blew a few days ago which resulted (I think) in damage to my hard drive. I say this because I then got a new PSU and connected everything up whilst checking for short circuits etc and the system wouldn't power up when connected to the HDD. When I checked connections and tried again, this blew the new PSU and possibly there was a flash from the PCB of the disk (can't remember). I've ordered a new PCB which has exactly the same firmware, chips etc from the same model but what is the likelihood of this being able to fix the disk?
Also what fault on the HDD would have caused the PSU to blow the second time? Could the PCB have caused this?

Most likely it will fix it.
If starts to click then Preamplifier inside HDA is dead and you will need a head swap to get data from it.

if you buy a decent PSU it wont blow .....

It was a decent PSU. Emphasis on was...!
I have tried a PCB swap and now the disk is spinning up and the BIOS recognizes the drive and the model number but it won't boot. Any suggestions to overcome this or reasons why this is happening?

You need data from it or what?
Connect it is slave and read the data if possible.

I've managed to get it working now by booting up using a different drive and successfully swapping the PCB on the blown disk. I didn't think it would work but it has so I'm pleased
