Hi!
I have a two 'Maxtor DiamondMax 11 6H500F0' but one of them is not working so good and need a other firmware for this model, my current firmware on the bad one is HA431DN0, but its not working properly with my onboard silicon image 3112 sata controller card on my Asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard. And my working 6H500F0 have the firmware HA431C00.
So is it anyone that have the HA431C00 firmware or can I extract this firmware from my other working drive and write it on the bad drive? And it that is the case, what programs can I use to read a firmware from a maxtor sata harddrive.
The firmwares I tested on this hard drive is HA431D90, HA431DD0 and HA431DN0. So If anyone have some other firmware that I can try for this Maxtor.
/Jerry

Why do you think it will help you?
Even if you could "extract" firmware from the good drive and write it to "not so good" - you would just kill the "not so good" drive 100%!
Everything is much more complicated than you think.

How do you mean? They are the same model, should that not be enough? and do you know a program that I can extract the firmware?. My problem with this bad drive is that my write speed is very slow and the read speed are ok. Do you se my problem with this two identical drives

Forget about changing firmware - this will not help.
I think it's just a matter of configuration in your case. Maybe one of the drves works in PIO... Did you try to connect it to another machine? Put it into USB enclosure?

The funny thing is that both harddrives are working in the same mode, UDMA 6, but I have read on the net on many places and it is very common problem, so why would my drives not work the alike? Its also known that the Silicon Image 3112 (and nforce controllers) have som problems with maxtor sata harddrives. But its strange that one is working and the other is not. Why why why?
And is it any universal sata drivers? Mybe its a driver problem or a firmware problem or a bios problem? Help plz
