Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi!
Today pc was unable to boot, I've booted from restore CD and chkdsk said that drive C: (the only partition on 80Gb Maxtor HDD) is not formatted; I have win2k, and the bad thing is I'm not shure which fs does it have either FAT32 or NTFS. Win2k pro on boot shows blue screen with text .... UNACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE ... .... I ve run MHDD it showed only 1 x=UNC block in the beginning of drive.
So my question is : how this bad block can be recovered and system restored?
