Seagate ST3120022A not recognised in BIOS.

March 10th, 2007, 14:36

Hi all,

Got a ST3120022A here that spins up OK and makes what sounds like a calibration noise, but instead of becoming ready, it goes to IDX.

It is not ID'd by PC3000, it stops at "loading ROM".

In Safe Mode, I can get the F prompt, and press R.. It resets OK and gives ROM version etc,

Press "j" and it starts to init, but stops at (P) PATA reset and stops.

Any ideas?

Maybe PCB?

Cheers

Sean

Sure, here you go..

Regualar mode gives:

Interface task reset
1024k x 16 buffer detected
ALPINE - 1_Disk M.14 01-16-03 11:51
Head Mask 000F - Switch to full int.
Spin Ready
3.06 08-21-03 17:50
(P)PATA Reset

and nothing else.

Safe Mode gives:

Interface task reset
1024k x 16 buffer detected

F>R
Head Mask 000F - Switch to full int.
Spin Ready
F>j
3.06 08-21-03 17:50
(P)PATA Reset

And nothing else, just sits there. Cannot press any other command keys.

Not a lot of help?

Cheers
