Hello! i've alredy read and searched around for this problem
the only real solution i found was the salvation data software

my drive simply after reboot identified itself as N40P

the drive doesn't make any funny noises and it spins normaly
i am very worried becasue i need the data on the drive, id ont care if it gets F*cked afterwards, i just need my data.
i have inclueded a picture of a scan i made of the HDD to make sure i don't type anything wrong.

i know i need software and probably firmware/bios/rom or whatever to fix the drive, some guru please help me and post or send all the files i need to my email porfa_cable@hotmail.com or even add me on msn

Cannot be done with free software.

Pease don't waste your time looking, it's not there!

ASAIK Salvation Software or PC3000 in only way, or HRT.

None of which are free.

Are you in Europe?

Yeah, free software can not help. PC3000 is very good tool, but do not using clone card from China

For the 10th of the price of PC3K or similar, you could try:

Aff Repair Station

http://www.hdd-tools.com/products/rrs/

It will require however to connect your computer to the Internet as the firmware recovery is done with remote access to their database server.

I hope that this helps you more than most other answers that say "It can't be done."

AFF can only remove PWD from maxtor drives, so it is not a good solution here.
Where are U, Porfa?
