Maxtor LEO

Hi all.
Had a go at this drive, its a ZAH814 series, problem is that the firmware is obviously corrupted as it reads as a 20GB drive not an 80.

Does anyone have a utility that can at least diagnose which modules are intact? I suspect that most of the firmware is OK but something is obviously amiss.

model is a 98196H8, last digit of the code should be O and is actually Z.

any ideas?

You need something like PC3000.

Don't think any free utility will do the job, unless HDD Repair 2.0 will do it.

Should be easy for an old drive like this.

But you need the tools to use the FW.

Fw without the tools is like a broken pencil....

Pointless! ;-) :-)

I have this exact same drive, 98196H8, ZAH814Y0, and I knew I should have backed up the firmware before trying to image it. 15% into it, it died, and is now recognized as a LEO. Has anyone ever found this firmware?

You're right, it is. I was looking for a LEO family, and gave up. BTW, any idea what family to use? I don't have a LEO family. Should I use Proxima?

The board on this drive looks very similiar to some other families besides Proxima. Would another family work?
