Hi are you sure it was the same model PCB? HDD capacity wouldn't matter for this chip.

Size doesnot matter for the changing pcbs the pcb no should be identical . The component that u have marked is a DC-DC convertor .

what is head stack plz?

Hi maxword,

almost surely U have a burnt preamp inside the HDA. So it is not an easy case.
Regarding the PCB, the capacity of the drive it is taken from is not that important, but the ROM version IS.

Hi does anyone have the pinout for the heads connector. This may be something that can be checked with a meter at the connector and save maxword some grief?

Hello,

I usually check the power lines by a multimeter (diode checking mode)against short circuit (+5V, -5V), U can find it out from the PCB easily.
the other lines I usually compare to a known good HDA.
