I think I have the same problem with my drive.
WD800BB-00FJA0 DCM ESBACTJCH
After a few clicks, the bios recognizes the drive's rom alias only.

I will try to buy an identical drive somewhere.

How do you copy the drive firmware ROM from a good drive to a bad drive?

i do that by programmer support the rom chip the file was 128kb so program it to chip(rom) or u can do that bu pc3000 v2.27 pci for windows

I do not have PC3000. Do you have link to software to R/W hdd ROM?

there is no software except salvation data (hdd doctor )but i havenot so try to do that by universal programmer
