6V160E0 seen as "Sabre2"

May 29th, 2007, 9:39

Hi all!

Any suggestions on this one?

Maxtor DiamonMax 10 - 6V160E0 f/w: VA131610

Spins, calibrates etc, but seen as "Sabre2".

Strongly suspect corrupt f/w, but PC3000 has no support for Sabre2, as of yet.

These drives have often problems with SA
PC3000 UDMA should support these drives

So I understand!

I was kinda looking for a more immediate solution :-(

Does anything support these ****ing drives?

Only self-written-software
I don't know any free or buyable solutions except which I mention above
You cannot build or load loader with old version of PC3000 because it was changed
You need as well special thing to put this device into safe-mode to load loader, so it's kind of hard to do

Well, I'm part of the way there. I got the drive in Safe Mode!

But I guess the only real option I have is Hot Swap and hope for the best!

Probably hot swap would be the only available solution in your case. Even after that you will need to reassemble translator in DE.

Yep, and maybe (but unlikely) file system is FAT32 to make the virtual translator easier!!
