Electronic noises from Western Digital SATA II drive WD2500

June 13th, 2007, 11:19

Hi all I have a problem, with an hard disk Western Digital SATA II - 250GB model WD2500JS.
I bought it after read good reviews and I chose it more for silence then the performance, but the disc emits continuously electronic noises at low volume but audible, also when it is not making NOTHING, like when You insert a floppy diskette in the drive and it start to read.
That seems to me much strange one, I have two maxtor HDDs in the same machine that they are much noisier in reading/writing, but when they are not making nothing, no noise exits from its drives.
If You have the same drive or similar from Western Digital and You are practical with MHDD and You have time, You can also do this test:
boot from MHDD, select the HDDrive, type in:
AAM
and set Minimale noise, then without confirm by means of enter, hold down the "down" arrow key and You would have to hear the noise that I tell.
Need adviceplease; thanks in advance.
