Board for WD360GD-00FLA2 ?

July 2nd, 2007, 21:43

EDIT: I am NOT a data lab technician. I am just a home user who wants to recover his hard drive. :)

My Western Digital Raptor SATA 36GB 10k RPM no longer works, and I would like to try replacing the controller board.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

---------------------------------------------

My HDD got too hot due to my own failure. One of the little pieces on the controller board looks all burnt.

The drive is not recognized by the bios, and I assume it is no longer getting power, as I can not detect any vibration or noise.

I would like to buy an identical drive to swap out the controller board, but my exact model isn't made anymore.

Existing drive model number:
MDL: WD360GD-00FLA2
Date: 11 MAY 2005
DCM: HBCAJAB

I do see drives available that are WD360GD, but lack the "-00FLA2".

Where might I find a replacement board or donor drive?

Do the full model numbers AND DCM have to be exactly the same?
