Is It possible to swap this maxtor slim

Hi folks.. :D

need some help here..

come to me, Maxtor DM 8S ( SATA150 HDD ) with spindle seizure. the spindle cannot be move at all.. even when try to push it harder.. I need to get the data out.. since I don't have any suitable donor..
Is It possible to swap platter from : :?
HDD : Maxtor Diamond Max 8S SATA150HDD, 40GB, Serial ATA
code : NAN51680, 6N040T0, KMBA

with this Good donor :
HDD : Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 8, ATA, 40GB
code : NAR61HA0, 6E040L0, KMCA

Hopefully anyone have experience in this kind of SATA drive can make an advice for me... :wink:

:lol: yup.. I only seen this time..

successfull data recovery. got 100% of the data out.

seem like.. nothing problem beside the spindle motor stuck.

change the motor with another motor from maxtor N40P. and than problem solve... :lol:

is the HDA different than that of the N40P? Just because U didn't simply swap the platter...

The SATA versions look the same as the PATA version (Using the bosy of the calypso) from my memory

Hi pepe, hddguru.

I try to swap the platter, but it seems like the head doesn't want to read the SA ( just swinging ). Why this happen ?

is there a big different between SATA and PATA SA ?

Never mind, I figured out.

It is a Maxtor 40GB DiamondMax Plus 8 NAR61HA0

Thanks anyway since the NAR61HA0 code helped me.
