" Format terminated " What problem can it be?

August 30th, 2007, 23:22

I'm using win 98 boot disk to check my 40GB Maxtor HDD. I able to do fdisk, deleted the old
partition and created a new primary partition.

I did a restart and try to format the HDD. But after 1%, it stop the formatting. Showing
" HDD not ready" & " Format terminated"

Can someone pls tell me what are the possible problem?

Especially with "Drive not ready" or to that effect, sounds like the HDD is giving the dreaded click of death.

Thk you for all the advice. Just one more question.

Will there be any solution to help save the HDD?

Using MHDD, erase the entire hard drive from sector LBA 0 until end. If this process fails, there is no way to save the HDD.
