platters swap

Hi there,
I am a new user but I've recently spent here a lot of time. And in HDD subject I am also no newbie.

Now I am preparing to operation "platters swap". I built at home clean box and then... realized that I have no idea how to swap 2 platters without changing even a little their orientation one to another. Heads are combined so cylinders on platter no1 and no2 are always the same but if I move one platter few degrees sectors will differ from the original state and will not mach the original state before swap.

Can anyone give me some clue if it is possible to succesfully swap more than one platter disks? What about tools? Any info will be helpful!

The best tool is to swap the head stack only and do not touch the platters

What model of hard ?

Now WD AC26400, but the question was in general about the whole idea of platters swap. Has anyone instead of swaping platters swaped head stack? I suppose it shoul be exact same head stack (eg. disk model, but also same head manufacturer - same drives came with heads made in different places).

Totally agreed. Platter swap have two major problems:
Centering and de-alignment (the last for drives with two or more platters).

After swapping head stack no head realigment is necessary is suppose - its all done by drive itself after spin up - am i right? Any other usefull tpis? ;]
