Hi Friends and HDD Gurus
I have maxtor n40p , original hard disk wasn't spinning so i swapped PCB now it is showing n40p in pc3000 , with z character .
In safe mode i tried all loaders but i get error -
Error loading firmware (sector0/33 abr)
So i tried other options , and i get show technological id , but it is refusing to start utility.
What will be the best solution? Please help me.
Thanks

Hi PCIMAGE
Thanks , yes fortunately both pcbs are same. Both are having ardent c9-c1 microcontroller and sticker on both pcbs read B8FEA.
I dont have desoldering equipments , so could not physically change rom from source to donor . Is it because i am using wrong loaders? Please suggest me how to choose correct loader.
Thanks

What happens with a hot swap?

When I see the N40P error I clear G-List and SMART log - that often fixes the problem.
I don't remember if the ROM makes any difference on these PCBs, but I would find a way to swap it out first, just to be sure.

Hi Jono-ats
Thanks , in this particular case i am unable to go into the utility itself so dont have access to g-list and smart.
Thanks
