Hi guys
Have been reading into how i can try to recover the data from my hard drive.
The "Smooth" chip on the pcb when up in flames so i guess the pcb is dead,i turned the pc off pretty quick as luckily the drive wasnt mounted in the pc case at the time. What could of caused this fire? How much chance is there that if i get a doner pcb and replace it that i will be able to recover my data?
so from what i've read from other posts the doner drive/pcb needs to match the FYA code which in my case is U3FYA, other details are:
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 250gb Sata /150 hdd
Code: YAR51HWO K G B D
TLA 6Y250M006690A
Ardent C8-C1
I have found a drive simalar drive but it is only 160gb but it seems size is not critical?
Also my drive is a refurbished unit from maxor it was replaced under warrenty does this change anything?
Thanks
Godsense

Hi,
I would give it a try, but there is a good chance the preamplifier in the case is also burnt, in which case your new pcb will be for the garbage too.
First do some measurements, like described in other posts here, to eliminate that.
Best regards,
Dobre
