Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

Hi All.
I'm From South Africa.
I came across Data Recovery two years ago at my previous employer, and fell in love.
This is a field that i would REALLY like to advance in, but i need more knowledge. up to now the most "intense" recovery method i use is a program called "Media Tools"
I would like to find out where can i get more information on data recovery.
I read some of you talk about G-Lists etc. I'm looking for more knowledge in that level of recovery, how to access the Firmware, etc etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a million in advance, and thanks for having me on your site.

Hi JiviX,
in order to access the SA you need to write programs that are specific to a perticular drive modal ( SA structure of drives changes with Manufecturer/Model ).
Alternatively you can use tools like pc3k, hrt or mhdd.

Hello,
I don't have any scripts to access SA from MHDD, since I use other progs I have bought and written. But if U know the vendor specific commands, it is possible to access the SA from MHDD using scripts (AFAIK, but I have never done it)
