Hello to all ,
I have a Maxtor 32049H2 whose firmware is corrupted , but the SA head 2 is weak (head assigned for SA operations) so i m not able to write the modules to the drive . I need to disable head 2 to restore drive operation but head 2 is SA head .
My question is can i assign head 3 as SA head in pc3k pci ?
If yes , please tell me a little about it .
Thanks in advance .

Hi,
SA head is hardcoded in the ROM. As far as I remember this drive has an external ROM, so in theory it is possible to do such thing. The question is: is it worth?

Thankyou for your reply ,
In some cases when hdd is in fail position and u need data and u cannot write any thing to the firmware area because the SA head is weak or completly not working there u would need to use this .
I am still researching where the SA head info is located i will keep u updated .
