WD2500JB-00REA0 Translator Modules

October 4th, 2007, 1:16

Hi HDD Gurus,

I hope some smart guys here can help. The documentation I have says that the translator modules for WD XXXJB drives are in 20 and 25. When I look at a good drive of that model, it doesn't even have a module 20, and 25 is a log module. Can anyone tell me which modules are the critical translator modules needed for a smart hot swap(as Starling calls it) for this model of WD drive?

Thanks for your replies!

Sounds like a "Black II" type drive, marvel chip.

Modules 31 & 32

Copy to donor, regen translator and then hot swap.

;-)

By the way, this HDD has an L-shaped board, which, according to SD documentation, should be a Black I. Maybe it's a mistake. An when I use Autoconfig, it puts it under Black I. Weird...

Well I got module 31, but couldn't get module 32(CRC Error). I'll try the hot swap anyway, but not sure about the prospects...

Thanks for the help though!
