WD1200 BEVS 2.5" SATA

October 5th, 2007, 14:00

Hi everyone,

I have this WD1200BEVS Sata laptop drive.
When I first got it the drive squeeked, open the drive and the heads were stucked, so released them carefully and they look undamaged.
After that I powered it up, and now the drive try's to init but after three attempt it powers off.
So my question is:
When the heads were stucked and the client tryed to power it up, could it had damage anything on the Pcb?
Or has infact the heads gone broken by the time they were stucked, or released?

Is there anyway to test the Pcb in safemode using the universal utility? The manual don't cover this model.

Regards

Bosse

99% sure heads are damaged, click attempt 3 times and spin down is bad head most of the time.

Thanks Sean :D
For headstack change, is it the 5:th and 6:th character in the DCM-code that must be the same for those laptop drives?
