Lost HDD capacity

October 6th, 2007, 20:31

Hi,
I have got a problem with my samsung spinPoint P 1614N, with capacity of 160GB. I had to reformat it because of some bad sectors and the Hutil utility (by samsung) asked me, if I want to restore the native capacity of the disk. I typed Y and the disk is from that time on only 80GB large. it has 156299375 LBA sectors (512b per sector) thus 80,0252... GB (not GiB). Strange is, that that is the exact number, that the other disk in my computer has..like Hutil got this bad info from another disk! if it is true or not, i still don't know how to get the 160BG back, the disk is in both bios and windows (and in utilities) only 76GiB large..no partition magic or Hutil works.

Thank you very much.
Sorry for my english or description of the problem, if it is not clear enough :-)
