Hi guy's,
I've got this drive with a bad Pcb.
What criteria is it for change those Pcb's, it's not obvious in the manual.
Shall I just match the cpu chip on the Pcb, or the full model?...or both.
It's an Maxtor D540X-4D060H3, with a Poker C1 chip.

The same as for Quantum - paint on the HDA near the PCB, for example ALE8 1550.

Hi,
this is not the quantum type (D540X-4D)
U have to match the FW revision for example: Code:DAH017K0

Thanks guy's,
So for for replacing Pcb on this one I need the same model and code...is that correct?
Or are there different models with the same FW revision Code?
Unfortunatly one of the numbers for the Code is gone

...see picture.

Hi,
I did not mention the same model, it is ovious..

Your FW code is probably DAK019K0 - this is Poker chipset.
the other frequent version is DAH017K0 - this is DSP.
since they are pretty hard to find these days, U should concert repairing the original PCB.
what is the problem with it?

Hi Pepe, and thanks for your input.
Yep, but I had not worked with those drives...thats why I wanted to be as clear as I can
Okey good to know the Code now, and yes they seems very hard to find...anyone in the forum got one?
The drive spinns upp, and you can hear the drive getting in the readdy mode, but the BSY is lit all time.
No strange sounds or so either.

Hi,
If it is spinning, most probably the problem is FW related.
PCB is 99% OK.

Thanks Pepe,
What is usually wrong with those Pcb's, is there a standard fault that I could look for when I consider to repair it?

yeah, sometimes they get burnt
Apart from that I never noticed any typical fault with these PCBs.
But I remember the symptom, it means some kind of FW problem. These drives like to hang on anything

Hotswap is very dangerous with this model, U are likely to damage the preamp while hotswapping, and it never gave me any good results, so I don't recommend it.
try safe mode, then loader...

I've got a DAK019K0, model 4D060H3. However, the LBAs are 117231408 and the HDA, PCBA, etc. don't match. The S/N on the PCB is C5FDB. Poker chipset.
I've also got a 4D060H3 with DAK017K0 - the logic is D2FDA. DSP chipset.

Hi jono-ats,
Since I just need the Pcb for replacement I don't think the LBA and HDA numbers matter...could someone confirm this!
Hi rameez,
The heads parks ok, and on init it sounds very normal.
I have waited 3 min to see if the DRDY & DSC comes up...but no luck.....just BSY.

Dont need to check LBA for pcb replacement pcb label should be enough . After the drive shows DRDY DSC does it show its name .
October 11th, 2007, 13:15
Hi rameez
Okey, I know that the Pcb label is no match, just model and FW....is it still possible, or do I also need the Pcb label to match?
The drive never reach the DRDY DSC state......just BSY

Check the PCB in safe mode . If it reports DRDY - the PCB is OK but maybe not the original one (different ROM version).
