WD 400 BB techno Key Error detected As SABRE

October 19th, 2007, 2:59

Hi
Friends
My WD400BB is making clicking and is detected as SABRE , i know it has lost firmware and is taking sabre alias from ROM.
I get techno key error 51/04 , Surprsingly i did not find much information elsewhere. Does anyone know how to come out of this problem?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi wawalab and hddlab
Thanks for your help,
I tried 2/3 pcbs of exactly same model but i got same error for all attempts , while other pcbs are working with no rom problem , i feel that rom must be ok. I dont have desoldering tools right now to replace patient rom.
Thanks

Is the clicking continuous, does it click for a while and spin down?

Hi
Friends

Thanks for your help. yes I need to recover data , at power on it starts clicking but spins normally. I swapped PCB with identical model but i get same error. Unless utility gives access to firmware we cant manipulate it. I tried ISA but no use.
I think this limitation is overcome in UDMA , those lucky guys now its your turn.
Thanks :)

I think may be SA head's weak, that why it's clicking. Go to kenel mode and check ROM.

Yes hddlab you are 100 % right. Problem is detected in head unfortunately i dont have MHA replacement expertise and spares so i am planning to outsource it.
Thanks :D
