Pattern in MHDD Scan results

October 25th, 2007, 8:49

I'm running MHDD on a Thinkpad R40e with Fujitsu MHT2030AT drive. I'm 10% into the scan and I am seeing a patten of equally spaced results, alternating between <10ms and >500ms. I am trying to determine whether it is worth replacing the hard drive or if this may indicate a controller problem. The CD drive is also not recognized which makes me suspect a controller problem. Can anyone clarify what I'm seeing in the scan results? Thanks.

Most likely one of the heads is degrading.
But I would run a scan on another desktop computer rather than a laptop just to be sure.
