PC based logic analyzers for HDD evaluation..

October 26th, 2007, 18:33

Anyone here have any experience with PC based logic analyzers? Do they live up their claimed specs in the real world? I'm shopping around for a used digital storage scope but have been tempted by the feature/price ratio I'm seeing with the PC based units.

This USB unit, for instance, claims to be capable of 32 channels at 500 MHz (500 MHz timing mode/internal clock, 200 MHz state mode/external clock). Unit is under $400.00 and works with free software. Is thing just a toy? Would you recommend a used digital storage scope over one of these? Thanks.
