November 4th, 2007, 12:23

Hi All,

I have problem with Toshiba MK8026GAX.Disk working a few minutes and stop.I heard this model has usually problem with bering, and i can heat the motor with a hot air gun. How long heat the motor? How high temperature set up on hot air? I wont copy data on second disk with copyr program and now I can because disk clicking and beeping and finally stop.

Any suggestions would be most helpful.

I have not had good luck with heating or re-lubricating the bearing.

I gave had a lot of success with transferring platters and heads to a drive shell with a working motor.

Your drive is a little tricky because there are two platters and 3 or 4 heads.

Donors are easy to find. Yours is very common.

Don't try the platter swap if you value the data. Send it to a pro.
