Seagate terminal - Buzz

Hello,

I have a Seagate IDE HDD that when viewed through Hyperterminal, during power on and initialization, stops on the word "Buzz" and will not proceed forward. What does "Buzz" refer to anyway?

I can feel the spindle and when I open the drive the heads are in a parked position but can be moved freely.... however, when first turned on and when the spindle gets up to speed, the heads do not move (on their own). When I make use of an identical drive and utilize it's controller (same controller, firmware, model...) I receive the same result.

I have tried powering on an identical drive, stop the motor, and make a hot swap between the drives, but upon starting the motor on the failed drive the heads move back and forth clicking repeatedly.

I would appreciate any information on the possible failure of this drive. I suspect head(s) but would appreciate any help.

maybe its a spindle problems when u get Buzz.. errors most time its FDB seizing problems maybe the spindle its not reaching the rpm, caused by the FDB lubricants on there.

I will look into this more, but at first glance and on the surface of things the spindle seems to have no problems.
