hdd password

December 1st, 2007, 13:46

Hi,

I have a WD hdd that's locked by an ata password.

The security-mode is high, and the master-password is factory-default.
Don't know the user-password.

Full model-number:
WD800BEVS-07RST0
firmware: 04.01G04

Anyone knowing a way to get around this (without pc3k or similar HW)?

I'm also interested in info about how the factory master-password are generated for this hdd.

Thanks in advance,
John
