No recognition of harddisk

December 3rd, 2007, 17:39

Hi
Recently I brought a cheap second hand harddisk:2.5" IBM Travelstar 20GB IC25N020ATCS04,but I cant get it functioning.BIOS wont recognize it.Neither will windows. What is wrong?I have cleaned the terminales of the HD.There are no anormal sounds.Everything looks fine.I have tried to use software like MHDD etc,but the result is the same:no recognition. Can anybody help me?

Hi,
Not to be a wiseguy, but thats probably why it was so cheep!
The fault can be everything from a faulty components on the Pcb to a bearing problem.
Unscrew the Pcb to see if there is any burnt components on it...for a start.

Hi
Thanks for your reply Mr Spokk.
I have unscrew the Pcb,and found no burnt components.Nore did I find any burnt fuses.I also clean the connectors. No result.
You are properly right about why it was so cheep(around $20).Anyhow I havent given up.Any more suggestions?I have with success been able to put life to HDs before, just by cleaning the terminals, and if I shouldnt have the luck this time, better luck next time
