Clicking Travelstar IC25N030ATMR04-0

December 24th, 2007, 3:56

Hi all
i have one of these drives that is clicking as soon as it powered up, it cant be detected by bios and PC 3000 does not id drive at all.
i suspect that i may have a faulty head and am looking for some assistance on correct diagnosis.
i have the icn25n030atc drive but i dont believe the boards are the same and so am cautious on just changing a board.
when it is attached to the pc3000 the drive wont id,
before trying to source a suitable drive and changing heads i would like to make sure the heads are faulty
assuming the heads are faulty and need replacement what is the criteria for matching a head ? must it be an identical drive or can i use a head from a larger drive such as 40gb or even from the icn25n030atc drive
any help will be greatly appreciated.
thank you
merry xmas to all
