Project website:
http://atola.com/products/insight(For those who are wondering how Atola is related to A-FF: Atola Technology is the new name of
A-FF Data Recovery
)
Project status:Atola DiskSense USB unit: development complete
Atola Insight software: in development (alpha)
Product release date: May 1st, 2008
Project presentation at CES 2008 (January 7-10) in Las VegasFloor plan of the show | booth number: 73539 (YEC/Ji2) in the Sands Convention Center
Project informationAtola Insight is the first data recovery tool that covers all phases of the data recovery process: HDD diagnostics, Firmware recovery, HDD duplication, and File recovery. In fact, HDD diagnostics was never done this far before (in any software or hardware) as it is done in Atola Insight. The diagnostic process reports the exact problem with the drive, whether it is a PCB (electronic) failure, head failure, media damage, motor freezing, firmware area damage or file system damage.
Atola Insight can work in fully automatic mode: it can automatically diagnose all hard drive’s components and let the operator know what the exact problem is and how to fix it; it can also automatically repair the firmware and show/remove ATA-passwords (User or Master, any security level). Automatic recovery can be stopped at any moment; and then any task can be done manually by the operator.
Some of the key features never introduced by other data recovery/firmware recovery software vendors:
* Automatic diagnostic of all hard drive components
* Automatic firmware recovery
* Firmware area backup/restore system
* Online firmware repositories
* Real time current monitor
* Case management system
Atola Insight works right out of the box. All controls are well explained in the program thus eliminating the need to check with the manual. User interface designed with maximum usability in mind.

click here and use menu on the left.
Everyone is invited!I will be presenting Atola Insight myself on the show. Also, there will be seminar held by
Ji2 where I will officially present this tool. Everyone is invited!
I will try to answer all questions about the product in this topic.

December 26th, 2007, 9:31
Ahmed_SamyIf someone tapes it then I will happily post it onto youtube. I will try to arrange that anyway but not sure if it works out. Will see

Great Idea Ahmad,
Dmitriy,
Ahmad's idea seems to be good, in this we, we people who will not be able to attend that presentation (The majority of members on hddguru forums here) will not have to miss out that big event. Then you can upload it either youtube or any place (here on hddguru too) to share the moments with us.....
Please, Do try to arrange that.....
Good Luck for the program

For the presentation it must very be good!
How much it must cost u$?
December 26th, 2007, 20:57
Is this going to be a pay per use service like the current A-FF Repair Station? Is this offered to the average home user or directed toward the hard drive tech? Thanks.
Robert

Well, the most interested things to me is the functions and the supporting list. Any idea?

Thanks for the awesome feedback so far, please keep it coming!
I have updated our
blog with a few more Atola Insight screenshots:
Firmware recovery with Atola Insight.
Now I will try to answer the questions.
Pricing: It will be a stand-alone product with a set price; no per-use charge as seen in Repair Station/HDD Unlock Wizard. Sorry, no prices are set so far. Preliminary pricing information can be expected in February 2008. Full roadmap (2-year development plan) should be ready by March.
Presentation: I will do my best to have it taped. If that doesn't happen for any reason, then I will at least publish my powerpoint presentation. Also, please note that
http://atola.com always contains up-to-date information about the project.
Freeware: We really want to give something that can be useful for everyone. Initially we did plan to include all diagnostics features, but now this seems somewhat shaky since most of the diagnostic stuff moved to the Atola DiskSense USB unit. We will be discussing this more with the developers to see what we can do. The same applies to the firmware diagnostics.
Supported drives and features: Automatic unlocking (ATA-password removal) should be available for all IDE and SATA hard drives (laptop and desktop) by May 2008. Everything else will be in the product roadmap which we will be releasing in March.
I promise: no one will get bored!

Thanks Maysoft....
We all are expecting for this product...it looks very interesting...if the prices will not be so high, like Acelab's products, i think that all will have to gain something from this...
Keep up the good work!!
And Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!!!!..To ALL

I think this is great news! Some might look down on a 'one button fix', but I think the easier and quicker it is for us to do DR, the more we can do

I hope it's priced so that we won't have Chinese clones in 6 months. It would be great if it was 'Programmer-Friendly' too, so it would be easy to make needed features. I've long wanted a good platform I'd feel comfortable dedicating the time to developing around. Perhaps even it's own batch-like language.
I like the Stop button too. One thing that annoys me with Salvation products is that the power goes on automatically, and I have to then turn it off myself. I'd rather have to go out of my way to turn it on. Salvation doesn't seem to get that. A Stop button is a nice jump in the right direction.
Also, I REALLY like the automatic diagnostic

Nice Product, it looks nice, let´s see how it works, if you can do it a user friendly interface, and some good manual to say how it works and how to do it, i think you will have a lot off sales, i will wait and see.
Good Luck, and continuing the good work.
