Data recovery and disk repair questions and discussions related to old-fashioned SATA, SAS, SCSI, IDE, MFM hard drives - any type of storage device that has moving parts

I have a Fujitsu MHT2040AT 40GB drive which would not load windows XP. I ran a MHDD scan on the drive which showed lots of bad red X sectors. I then ran a repair and relocate scan which came back with a good result. What I want to know is, has this drive now been fixed or could it go faulty again in a couple of months. The reason I ask is because I ran a scan on a newer drive, which actually showed up more problems than I now have on the original drive.

Drives with a lot of bad sectors tend to get a lot of bad sectors. In other words, the drive is on it's way out.
