Compatibility between Maxtor PCBs with same PCB code (G6FYA)

January 14th, 2008, 8:03

Hi all,
I read all about this very interesting Topic http://forum.hddguru.com/sticky-important-topics-beginners-please-look-here-first-f16/howto-how-to-replace-maxtor-calypso-iii-board-t5977.html
so I found a disk with the same model number (6Y120L0031011)
and the same firmware codes (YAR41BW0 and G6FYA).

The only difference is in the brand of the central chip... mine is a SAMSUNG, while the other one is WINBOND.

Are they likely compatible to be substituted each other...? mine is broken I think, so I need a compatible one for recovering my data....

THANKS ALL Very Much
