Translator Modules for WD5000KS-00MNB0

January 24th, 2008, 0:01

Hello All,
Does anybody know what are the translator modules for Western Digital WD5000KS?
I need to transfer the modules to my donor drive but I am not sure about the translator
modules for this drive.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

Could you describe what are you trying to do to a donor drive?

Customer dropped the hard drive. Heads were damaged and there is a minor scratch that is preventing drive to initialize properly. Heads have been replaced. After using a donor drive to hot swap, drive will initialize fine and I am attempting to transfer translator modules to donor to start the image of the bad drive. Anybody know what are the modules to be transferred to a donor drive to attempt smart hot swap? Is there any alternative besides PC3000UDMA to read and write modules to this WD family? Thank you ALL.

Hi!
If the drive initializing fine, can't you read the drive?
What is the problem?

You had to get those modules from your donor drive prior to removing heads.
You can see which modules you need on a same model drive.
