Hello mates, I see for the first time a 2,5" Momentus 4200 ST9100822A that doesn't spin up - connected to external power supply the drive only emit a slight clicking.
Before opening the HDA (suspected bearing seizure), any advice / reported experience / common issues ? This is the first time I see such a HDD.
Many thanks in advance for sharing, best regards.

Can you swap the PCB? Your problem could be electrical.
More likely, the heads are parked out of position, preventing the HDU from starting.

You could start by posting a terminal log... and make a new thread instead of resurrecting old ones from over a year ago...

Hi there,
(sorry for my english)
I have the same problem. I removed disk from external case and connected it to my laptop with SATA-USB adapter. The computer doesn't see hard drive, and from the disk I hear noise like on Youtube video posted here. When I connect hdd with terminal the sound is the same. Here is my log from terminal:
- Code:
Reset
4096k x 16 DRAM
CORSAIR - 1_Disk S-00 11-05-07_18:00
Buzz
Buzz
Buzz
Buzz
[Buzz infinite all the time, but when I press CTRL+Z...]
F>
Buzz
Buzz
[and again Buzz all the time]
Any ideas how to fix it?
Disk is (external case data):
Seagate Freeagent GO 250GB
P/N: 9NN2AG-500
S/N: 5RG0G0AT
Data from hdd:
Seagate Momentus 5400.4 250GB
SN: 5RG0G0AT
ST9250827AS
FW: 3.CTA
Thanks for helping me.

Hello, is the hard drive still under Seagate's warranty (usually 3 years)? You can check on their website by typing in the model number and serial number of your hard drive. If it is warranty then they will exchange it for you. I Hope that helps.
Cheers
