Anyone know if tools and firmware available for the drive above(160gb ultra ata). OEM so Seagate say no tools or firmware available. It's so I can lock it for an XBOX, the drive I have with firmware V8.11 does not lock, it "does not support the ata security spec". Seatools back this up. I presume the security feature is firmware related. Who knows!
Successfully built and locked a 20gb Seagate and a 80gb WD so fine with process.
Seagate unlocker website no use, firmware too old and I need to lock (so need security features) not unlock.
Thought it would lock because of users who have locked this drive before (

Forgot to mention:
Config level: 9KPF1
Config code: C50-02
Barracuda 7200.7
Found these firmwares (
http://support.salvationdata.com/seagat ... 7200.7.htm) but presume I have to buy the software (and anything else?) to do anything with firmware?? Presuming you can re flash with 8.01 with a drive on 8.11?
Cheers

Last chance to get some feedback (good or bad) on this.
Thanks in advance

Any modern hard drive has security features... If your hard drive doesn't, then it is either broken or security is disabled. To enable security feature you can use MHDD CONFIG command.
