BIOS cannot detect HDD

I have 3 units of Seagate 80GB desktop 3.5" IDE hard drives that are not able to be detected by BIOS when i boot up my computer and also having the same problem when i tried another computer. MHDD also not able to detect the hard drives. The hard disks spins all along and does not spin-down or make any clicking sound. See attached screen message.

Hi,

they probably suffer of some PCB problem or the bearing is seized or heads are stuck on the platters... First one has more probability.

Thanks for the reply.. could it also be that the hdd's mbr is corrupted and therefore, the BIOS cannot detect the hard drives during boot-up?

NO.
MBR is only available after BIOS detected the drive.

sorry, I mis-interpreted your first message, I got it as if the drives were not spinning...
The cause of the problem can be many things: PCB, heads to FW area so I cannot give a general solution.
we should hear them powering on, hear their seeking...

When i power-up the computer, the drives did power-up and could hear seeking sound and spinning and the drives spins down when i power-off the computer. Thanks for your reply pepe!

Did you swap the pcb with the same part and revision number to get it working?

OK. connect the drive as primary master (Don't connect power supply yet). Now run mhdd and keep your eye in the top (where are the signal indication..DRDY..ERR...T0NF and BSY etc) now, as you connect the power, note the signals out there and keep them watching for one minute and give me the details here...then we will workout furthur.....

I don't mean to offend, but are you sure the jumpers are set correctly? Have you tried any other combinations?

Please correct me if the steps are correct or not.
Tested on the three undetected by BIOS drives one at a time.

1. Connected the drives as primary master without attaching the power connector to the drives and run MHDD
2. Port 1F0h shows no detection and i pressed HDD number "1"
3. all the three drives "WRFT" signal indicator shows a quick blink
4. When i attached the power connector to the drives ,
*1st drive - only "BUSY" indicator signal on
*2nd drives - only "BUSY" and "UNCR" indicator signal on
*3rd drives - only "BUSY", "AMMF" and "ABRT" indicator signal on
5. after one minute, signal indicators remains as it is for the three drives

Well, as all the drives remained BUSY, it means some problems are in drive itself. Now, the next thing you should do is to check the drive in terminal and put here the terminal log...

Hello.
I have similar problem - ST3802110A.

What I know:
1. Disk is spinning - no power connection problems.
2. Jumpers are ok.
3. BIOS doesn't see HDD.
4. Windows FINDS disk called "E} E} E} E}" with capiblity 1024765GB!
5. Victoria 4.46f see the same. Claims that disk is SATA2, has no PC3000 power adaptor, no LBA addressing. Program can stop/start disc spin. Can't power it down. SMART shows "unknown attribute" for every line.
6. MHDD shows as above (E} E}..). Commands ID and EID not working (no LBA support).
7. Sea Tools for Windows hangs on "Detecting devices".
8. Sea Tools for Dos shows 'E} E}" and crashes on "test" or "quicktest".
9. I can't find ant firmware update.

Any ideas?
